Jay Young

Silas Joseph Young Jay Young (born October 1, 1949 in Eunice, Louisiana - August 23, 2006). He was one of the original news anchors on CNN's Headline News in Atlanta, Georgia, in the 1980s.

Young was a graduate of Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge.

Jay was a staff member on future Louisiana governor Edwin Edwards' election team in 1971 before moving on to become a popular regional print journalist (Opelousas, Louisiana Daily World) and newscaster in Lafayette, Louisiana [KATC TV 3] in 1975-76 and in Baton Rouge on WAFB-TV 9 in the late 1970s and on WBRZ-TV in the early 1980s to mid 1980s, the latter newcast was reportedly the highest rated ABC-TV newcast for a market its size in the country. Young later published three novels (in the 1990s) :Where Heathens Pray, Smuggler's Forecast, and Flights of Fantsy.
